e92plus Channel Premier League – How it happened

Fourteen teams converged upon Goals Wimbledon last Thursday for the annual 5-a-side football competition hosted by e92plus, our biggest and strongly contested tournament to date.  Whilst in the business world our vendors, resellers and our own sales all work together to win deals, on this particular afternoon all inter-company friendships would be set-aside with the goal of taking home the trophy.

Teams provided from our vendors included Trend Micro (A & B), Forcepoint, Ivanti & Trustwave, whilst our resellers were represented by defending champions Bytes Software Services, Bytes SP, Civica, PSDC, Secon, SoftwareONE, Storm Technologies and Viadex, joined by last year’s runners up e92plus

Two groups, 7 teams per group, 6 group matches, 10 minutes per game, the tournament kicks off!

In group one, Bytes Software Services got their campaign off to a brutal start, sending 9 goals past Forcepoint without reply for their biggest win of the tournament, and only managing a measly 7 (again, without reply) against Trend Micro B.  PSDC were the wrong side of a 3-2 scoreline to hosts e92plus, but managed to turn it around with a 4-1 win over Viadex, who registered victories over Secon (6-1) and Trend Micro B (4-0).  After a 2-2 draw with e92plus, Secon then went on to hit 4 goals past Trend Micro B without reply.
Top Two: Bytes Software Services - 18pts, e92plus - 13pts

In group two Storm Technologies hit Ivanti for 5, and also Bytes SP for 4, both without reply, whilst Bytes SP, with a bare 5 player squad responded well from an opening game 4-5 defeat against Trend Micro A to beat Trustwave 3-1 & Civica 4-1.  Civica themselves battled to a 1-1 opening game draw with Trustwave and then one better with a 2-0 victory over Storm Technologies.  Trend Micro A won the vendor face-offs in group two, beating Trustwave 6-1 and later Ivanti by a scoreline of 3-1.  Quietly progressing in the early stages were SoftwareONE, who despite winning their earlier games really found their scoring boots late on, sending 4 unanswered goals past Ivanti and 7 unanswered goals past Civica.
Top Two: SoftwareONE – 18pts, Trend Micro A – 13pts

In the knock-out stages Bytes Software Services showed no mercy to Trend Micro in a one-sided affair resulting in a 5-1 victory to book their place in the final for the second year running, whilst in a more edgy match-up SoftwareONE put together an efficient display to send the hosts packing, winning the match 2-0.

The Final: Bytes Software Services vs SoftwareONE

2016’s champions versus 2015’s champions.  The dream match-up!

After a tentative start, the game livened up with both teams getting a goal on the scoreboard before, in true British fashion when it comes to football, a penalty would decide the fixture and the fate of the trophy.  SoftwareONE were to score it and take the win, the trophy and the plaudits.

All that is left to say is a huge thank you to our vendor partners Trend Micro, Forcepoint, Ivanti & Trustwave for supporting this tournament, and to all of our reseller partners who were able to join us on the day and help make this tournament a great success.  Congratulations to SoftwareONE, commiserations to Bytes Software Services, and we hope you all will be back next year to fight for the trophy once more!
