What can cybersecurity expect to see in the next 12 months?
2020 was a year that none of us expected, with a global pandemic that turned our lives, jobs and communities upside down. The technology world was no different, with Satya Nadella of Microsoft summing it up - "we've seen two years' worth of digital transformation in two months".However, while the threat landscape evolved and adapted (not least targeting vulnerable/opportune industries such as healthcare or pharmaceuticals), one thing stayed true - the risks and rewards grew alongside the volume and sophistication of attacks. The threat vectors changed (not least WFH employees accessing corporate networks through BYOD, home routers and outside the protective office environment) and we all needed to adapt. As we enter 2021, it's hard to know the next big change. However, it's essential to look forward and work together to help protect users and organisations. Here are some highlights from our partners on what 2021 might bring.Turning the Tide: Trend Micro Security Predictions for 2021 The seismic events of 2020 have created long-lasting changes in work environments across the globe and opened up new avenues that cybercriminals can abuse. Two highlights for e92plus in the 2020 CRN Awards
2020 is a year like no other, and the CRN Awards were no different. One of the undoubted highlights of the IT channel calendar, normally a dark night in November sees over 1,500 people descend on Battersea Park to celebrate the great achievements of their company, customers and partners, to meet up with friends old and new, and maybe consume the odd drink or two. In Covid-19 times, of course, there’s no option for a physical event. However, the show must go on and the CRN Awards went virtual. It was a great show as ever, if a little different, and excellently hosted by Colin Murray (who as a radio presenter, at least has experience of not seeing his audience). After a fantastic run of success (including winning awards for the last 3 years in a row), e92plus were shortlisted once again – this time for Security Distributor of the Year and overall Distributor of the Year (sub £250m turnover). Sadly, we were beaten to the post in two of the most competitive, highly fought categories, not least against much larger competitors. However, we were incredibly proud to be Highly Commended in both categories, which is fantastic recognition of our growth and success, and the commitment we have to providing outstanding service to our partners, and continuing to innovate as we transform what distribution brings to the channel for cybersecurity and cloud solutions. A big thank you to all our partners for their support, and hopefully we’ll all be back in Battersea Park in 2021….and we’ll certainly be looking to reclaim that glassware!
e92plus helps MSPs deliver best-in-class mobile security with Lookout partnership
e92msp, the dedicated managed services division of leading cybersecurity VAD e92plus, have announced their partnership with Lookout, focused on bringing their market leading mobile security to the MSP and MSSP community with a unique offering. The current threat landscape has seen a significant pivot to mobile devices in 2020, in particular with the rise of remote working and the use of personal devices. The 2020 Lookout Mobile Phishing Spotlight Report revealed a 37% increase in mobile phishing at the start of 2020 compared to the end of 2019, with costs of up to $35 million per incident for organisations with 10,000 mobile devices. For MSPs, adding mobile security is a natural complement to endpoint security and management services. Mobile is a natural part of our daily workflows, and Lookout integrates with apps such as Office365 and Google G-Suite, providing protection whether the data is being accessed on a corporate-owned or an unmanaged personal device. For e92msp, the partnership with Lookout offers significant opportunities to their partner community. Lookout have a strong channel-first approach, but historically have focused on subscription licences for enterprise organisations. Working with e92msp, MSPs and MSSPs can now enjoy access to their platform as well as enjoying consumption billing, simple customer on-boarding and the ability to easily deploy Lookout’s technology to customers using mobile device. Jamie Pearce, Sales Director of e92msp, commented that “Lookout have been widely recognised as a market leader, and have been named a leader in Mobile Threat Management Software by the IDC MarketScape for the third consecutive year (1). We’re excited to be bringing that heritage and expertise to our MSP community, enabling them to offer enterprise class technology, and bringing our expertise and services to help Lookout build their managed services community”. With growth of nearly 250% in the past year, Lookout are growing significantly and they now protect nearly 200 million devices worldwide. Organisations are now realising that users are the new perimeter, and their traditional security tools no longer provide the protection needed. Lockdown saw a significant rise in VPN, but with up to two thirds of personal devices not using a VPN of any form, those cloud and SaaS apps can be compromised if a phishing attack is successful on an employee’s personal mobile or tablet. e92plus extends managed service offering with Forcepoint
e92plus has announced the extension of its partnership with Forcepoint, now offering Web and Email security services to their UK MSP and MSSP partner community. The Forcepoint Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP) program provides a technology platform and accompanying professional services and training derived from Forcepoint’s diverse portfolio, channel partner experience, solution expertise and commitment to ensuring joint success. It leverages Forcepoint’s experience providing innovative, human-centric user and data protection cybersecurity solutions to thousands of enterprise and government organisations in 150 countries worldwide. The launch comes as the growth of managed services in the cybersecurity sector is expected to continue to accelerate ahead of the industry, with expected annual growth rates in excess of 15% (1) and Forbes reporting external managed services will account for 77% of cybersecurity spend by 2026 (2).For e92msp, the division of e92plus dedicated to MSPs and MSSPs, it’s a perfect extension to a successful relationship. e92plus has been a partner of Forcepoint for 15 years, helping support their UK channel. With the launch in 2019 of e92msp, the new division dedicated to managed services, the community of MSPs and MSSPs has grown rapidly to over 500.“The market for managed services is growly rapidly, and it made sense for us to formally launch a dedicated division with additional sales, technical and marketing resources alongside a dedicated technology marketplace” explains e92plus Group Chief Executive, Mukesh Gupta. “Cybersecurity is becoming one of the most important parts of any MSPs toolkit, while pure-play MSSPs are seeing significant growth opportunities. With our heritage, there’s a huge amount of value and expertise we can provide”. Leonard Dahan, VP Global OEM and MSSP at Forcepoint, said “Security risks change and compound with digital transformation. As organizations shift more applications and services from on-premises to the cloud, their existing infrastructure-centric security is a mismatch to securing user access and data in a location-agnostic cloud environment. As e92plus offers Forcepoint Cloud Web and Email alongside the range of other Forcepoint security solutions, they will extend the industry’s most complete email and web protection to their customers, delivering safe access for any device, any cloud and any app, while providing easy and fast adoption of the MSSP Cloud Programme for both VARs and MSPs in their community.”For the partner, working with Forcepoint brings significant opportunities. Tamsyn Roberts at MSP RnD Systems comments that “the Forcepoint MSP programme works perfectly for our customers as it allows us to provide firewalls, web and email filtering as part of our managed service. Monthly billing means customers don’t have to worry about budgeting for the annual renewal, and can enjoy complete control over their monthly costs while scaling up or down to match their business requirements. This can be done with minimal interruption, and provides them with enterprise class cybersecurity whatever their size.”Jamie Pearce, e92msp Director, adds “As well as existing MSPs and MSSPs, we’ve strong demand from our VAR community to build out managed services as their customers seek to address skills shortage, need assistance to rapidly scale out cloud services, and also move towards monthly annuity based subscription models that increase the value of their business. As a long term partner with Forcepoint, it’s perfect that we can provide their services too, as a complement to our existing cybersecurity portfolio. Forcepoint offers the industry’s most comprehensive suite of converged capabilities to address enterprises’ most critical security challenges across network security, threat protection, secure access and data protection”. e92plus signs partnership with Ericom to support Zero Trust security initiatives
e92plus have announced a partnership with Ericom, a leading provider of secure web browsing and application access solutions, to help grow their UK partner community and bring a simplified approach to Zero Trust to the market. The leading cybersecurity VAD in the UK, e92plus will empower their extensive partner community to take the Ericom solutions to market, bringing to the channel solutions that help address the changing business landscape and priorities, while helping organizations embrace new approaches to cybersecurity and data protection.2020 has frequently been highlighted as the year of Zero Trust – an “never trust, always verify” security concept that seeks to address the challenges of data and network breaches by removing inherent trust for every device connecting, whether it’s internal or external, until it’s been authorised and allowed least privilege. The difficulty is that this can be hugely complex, and with the network no longer the perimeter, hard to control. Ericom’s unique approach brings the Zero Trust concept to web browsing, isolating all web activity in secured containers through Remote Browser Isolation (RBI). Whether users browse to a malicious website on their own or click on a URL embedded in a phishing email, they are completely safe since no web content is ever executed directly on their device. An interactive media stream representing the website is sent to a device's browser, providing a safe, fully interactive, seamless experience. Websites launched from URLs in emails can also be presented in read-only mode, preventing users from entering credentials that can be stolen and used to access to systems. “We’re delighted to be partnering with Ericom” comments Mukesh Gupta, Chief Executive and Founder of e92plus. “Zero Trust is an approach many organisations are looking to embrace, especially with more remote users than ever accessing corporate applications, networks and the web. Ericom’s innovative approach compliments existing web and email security technologies by adding a Zero Trust browsing proposition, so for our partner community it offers a perfect complement to their offering”. “Ericom Software is delighted to partner with e92plus, as a value added distributor e92plus have a tremendous track record in enabling, developing and growing business through its customers," said David Canellos, Ericom President and CEO. "This alliance ensures that our partners and mutual customers experience the full value of our cybersecurity solutions”. Ericom has an established partnership with Forcepoint, another e92pus vendor, offering a seamless native experience for users to avoid endpoints in any location becoming compromised, while the technology can also complement many other web security, next generation firewall, and email security gateway solutions. Additionally, Ericom’s portfolio of secure access solutions for remote users, enabling organisations to quickly connect home workers with on-premise apps and desktops, will be brought to market by e92plus via this partnership. As part of the agreement, e92plus will be providing the extensive range of supporting services for partners, including free digital and social marketing platforms, extensive technical services for pre-sales consultancy, healthchecks and deployments, and the unique Project Financing offering that helps provide up-front margin for partners. Mukesh Gupta concludes “In the current climate, our focus is on helping our partners support their customers with innovative technologies that do not just provide the most advanced cybersecurity protection, but also fundamentally helps their businesses at the most challenging time. With Ericom, the ability to easily access legacy apps without complex VPNs or migrating those apps to the cloud allows customers to provide a seamless user experience and maximise productivity without compromising security.” About e92plus Limited e92plus is the leading independent cybersecurity VAD for the UK channel, going beyond traditional distribution to provide exceptional products and services that drive accelerated growth for our vendor and reseller partners.
